In 2011, I started teaching myself to paint. After much frustration, I enrolled in an oil painting class at a community college. I discovered my love for fine art. I continue to self-teach and paint almost every day and take classes whenever I can.
I enjoy the challenge of creating realistic renderings of people, animals and nature. I apply the technical skills I learn through realism in my more expressive abstract paintings. I love color and you will see this played out in many of my pieces.
My other passion is teaching. My dream has been to teach college one day, but I haven’t had opportunity to pursue an MFA. I love sharing my knowledge with others and helping them realize their potential. Through social painting classes I teach, I offer training for beginning artists, or anyone who enjoys and wants to learn about art and design and have a good time painting with friends.
At this stage of life, I’m looking to my not-so-far-off retirement years. I’ve come to the realization that I may have to work at least part time until I’m a really old lady! With that in mind, I’m looking to develop my art as a means of income and fulfilling my creative passion.
I hope to see you at one of my painting events!
